"Trail"

The "trail" up the mountain isn't really one. You can't really carve a trail through solid rock. So instead you have to pick your way across the harder rock, avoiding the crumbling rock. You do this by picking your way from cairn to cairn, where someone has pointed out the easiest way between two points. You have to stop at each cairn to find the next one and then head toward it.
