I took it to the Apple store, who happily replaced my cracked top case, keyboard and trackpad (unrelated to the beer incident), but declined to replace anything else because, well, “We opened it up, and it smelled like beer.” I ordered a replacement “logic board” (what the rest of the world used to call a motherboard, but which kids today are calling a mainboard) from eBay. I managed to get to NYC yesterday and got to JFK about the same time Berck flew in. I didn’t think there was much hope of me getting on the Delta flight that left at 8 in the morning as there were 4 empty seats and 14 standbys listed, of which I was ranked 13th, but somehow I did.
