After going to bed about ten last night, we got up at 3:30 am, showered, packed the car, and left in an hour. Memphis was 18 hours away, and we wanted to get there before midnight. Looking for breakfast in Lamar about three hours later, we missed our turn to Kansas and instead found ourselves in Oklahoma. No problem, it wasn’t any further to go our new alternate route. (After traveling this route three times in a week a year ago, you would think that I would wonder why it didn’t seem familiar. That’s because we had taken that route…
Yesterday, I got gas after coming back from the post office to mail something I’d sold on eBay. I was annoyed that it was a $1.97/gallon. I filled up Arthur, something I’ve gotten reasonably good at doing finally. If I just stop after the automatic shutoff, it’s anywhere between 1.5-2.5 gallons shy of full. Unfortunately, it’s really difficult to fill all the way up without getting gasoline everywhere. Which is why you have to actually pull the nozzle out and watch the level in the tank… much like filling up an airplane. This morning was cloudy and rainy, but it’s…

On my way to work early Friday morning, I noticed the car making a funny noise. Of course I had no idea what it was, but the car makes weird noises all the time, at least according to Berck. “Do you hear that?” he’ll demand, “Do you hear THAT??” Hear what? “THAT! You can’t hear it?” Oh, that noise? “NO! It’s not making it NOW.” So I congratulated myself on hearing the car making odd noises and made a mental note to inform Berck about it. As I turned on the home-stretch to work, the noise got louder, so I…
I haven’t been in a writing mood lately. I guess Joanna hasn’t either. The big news is that I’ve completed all the flights for my Private Pilot Certificate. I just have to emerge successful from a three hour oral questioning session, then prove to an examiner that I can fly the plane. This is all scheduled to take place on Monday. I need to study. We got Arthur back from the shop last week. He runs great, save the fact that he seems to have an electrical issue. The generator light is illuminated, and it’s not charging the battery. I…
