My baby is gone again. He has delivered the Miata to Nashville, and now he’s on his way up to Chicago in a motorhome. Unfortunately, he left me with no sound on my computer and a keyboard that doesn’t work on his computer. I wanted to watch the debate tonight from VOA.com, so i copied and pasted a V, then an O, then an A into Berck’s Google taskbar. That took me to the site so I could watch and listen to the debate. I’m in better shape than the last time he left. I had no Internet on my…
So I’m back in Norman. But not for long. Originally, I’d planned to drive to Chicago and visit Sydney, Mom and Noell. After leaving Chicago, the vague plan was for me to drive to Nashville where Dad is these days, and he and I would go out to California to pick up his Miata and some of his stuff. On Wednesday, I was outside the Smart Museum in Chicago, which is the University of Chicago’s little art museum with free admission and a pretty nifty little collection when Dad called. I’m going to spare you the logistical details. They’re simply…
On my way to work early Friday morning, I noticed the car making a funny noise. You can’t hear it?” Oh, that noise? “NO! It’s not making it NOW.” So I congratulated myself on hearing the car making odd noises and made a mental note to inform Berck about it. As I turned on the home-stretch to work, the noise got louder, so I…
My baby is home! He’s in the shower right now. He’s making chili using the habaneros our pepper plants finally produced. After he cut one up, he went to the bathroom to pee. Now he’s in the shower trying to get rid of the pain…down there.
I’m enjoying a much-needed break from Oklahoma. I’d been planning to come to Chicago for awhile, and it seemed like Sydney’s birthday was as good a day as any to do it, especially since Mom was here as well. We went to a Steppenwolf Theatre production of “The Dresser” which is about someone who dresses rather than a piece of furniture. It was well-produced, though the meta-play thing really seems overdone. It had what had to be one of the most elaborately constructed sets I’d ever seen. And Fraiser’s Dad. I spent most of yesterday at the Art Institute of…
