Obama will win easily. If McCain wins Pennsylvania, then he has a fighting chance, which is why he’s been campaigning so heavily there. But if that happens, it will be a pretty big upset, and things could get really interesting. Democrats will gain at least 5 Senate seats, possibly even more on Obama’s coattails. The big news tonight will be if the Democrats get a filibuster-proof 60 seats total, which I don’t think will happen but is certainly possible. Obama’s plan will bankrupt anyone building a coal power plant. And the price of electricity will necessarily skyrocket under his plan. I thought he was for clean coal? You environmentalists will be thrilled. The US has more coal than the rest of the world put together. It could solve our energy needs for two centuries. But we won’t be allowed to use it. On the same note, on Wednesday I have a business meeting with these folks who are developing a method of sequestering CO2. So I’m the one actually doing something about it.
Fact: Obama’s tax plan would give me a tax break (probably around $1000). That’d be nice. Of course, having closely observed presidential campaigns for dozens of years now, I know that what a president wants and what he can get out Congress can be two very different things. Apparently, he’ll help pay for this by eliminating a bunch of deductions, but since I don’t take any, that’s shouldn’t change my amount.
