Though this article is careful to point out that the data doesn’t wholly support a causal link, I think that it’s pretty good evidence that abstinence-only education doesn’t work, and quite possibly causes harm.

    Are you suggesting that the more sevual activity, the more STD’s and pregnancies? The study of sociological cause and effect is difficult because establishing valid control group sis close to impossible with people as opposed to lab rats. A reasonable approach, of course, is to realize openly that we are hard wired to have sexual activity and any “education” that tries to swim against this current will largely fail. The basis of most religions is that there is free choice about what we choose to do. In fact, there is overwhelming evidence that trying to constantly resist biology, and genetics in particular, is futile. The only successful mechanism to prevent sexual activity is the muslim approach – completeseparation of the genders.
