Trudging

We were at a pretty high altitude, so even though we were hiking up fairly steep and difficult terrain on black rock that radiated the heat of the sun, the air was cool enough to not be unpleasant. There was no sign of life, no vegetation, and only the occasional insect flying by. It was also unbelievably quiet if you got out of the wind.
