This is where I go fly a real CRJ-900 with real passengers in the back, but with an “IOE Check Airman” qualified Captain. Since I’ve never actually flown the plane, the FAA requires that I spend at least 25 hours on IOE. I’m required to demonstrate certain items, and the Captain will sign off my folder after each flight. It turns out that amusing things happens when you build a DNS server and DHCP server on different boxes, and then list the hostnames in the DHCP server table. It turns out that the DHCP server won’t start until it can resolve the hostnames, which will never happen when the DNS server is busy asking the DHCP server what it’s IP address is. The amusing thing is, it’s been set up this way for a very long time, but I’ve never turned both machines off and back on at the same time.…
