Berck took the following picture this morning. It’s since snowed about six inches, and it’s still coming down.
We cracked open tonight the bottle of Glögg Berck got at Ikea last year. Of course, we had to buy some aquavit to mix in it. Berck mixed the 500 ml bottle with half as much aquavit and that much cheap, red wine. He also cut up one of Ian’s oranges in the pot and heated it all up. Mmmm… a perfect warm drink for a very wintery day.
So what do we do when it snows here? Why, put on the snow tires, of course. Then Berck had to test them out, which we did on Gold Camp Road (a mountainous, narrow, dirt road with tunnels that goes all the way to Victor). The Miata doesn’t have much ground clearance and normally doesn’t like bumpy dirt roads, but when a road is covered with snow, the white stuff apparently fills in all the holes, and the Miata drives along on top just fine.
We drove until we came to a group of cars blocking the road, whether because they were trying to extricate one of the SUV’s or were too busy having fun to get out our way. Berck slid around backwards, and we headed back down the road. The most terrifying part of the day was avoiding people trying to drive without snow tires to the mall. There were fender-benders with police on the sides of roads everywhere. Good enough reason to stay inside on a wintery day.
Berck is trying to get his computer to work, otherwise there would be more pictures up.
