Newsflash
One can of Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk equals one cup.
But I still have to wonder…why does Eagle Brand have a picture of a cow on the front?
Stupid Wind
I got up at 6:30 this morning, packed a lunch, checked the weather and went to the flight school. I left my lunch. I got to the flight school at about 7:35. When no one was there to even let me in the building by 8:30am, I called my instructor. Who was asleep. And didn’t even apologize. I’m really starting not to like him.
I called the weather briefer. Who told me that the surface winds at Dalhart, TX were predicted to be 25-35 knots about the time I’d arrive. Flight school says I can’t fly if surface winds are over 25 knots. Besides, I’ve never landed with 35 knot gusts, and this probably isn’t the time to try.
I was going to try to do it in the middle of the week, but I’m leaving for Delaware on Tuesday, and when I come back on Thursday, Mom will be here. I don’t want to spend a whole day flying when she’s here to visit, so I’m tentatively on the schedule for Monday the 20th.
I wanted to be done with this. I’m tired of worrying about it.
Librarying
Berck is checking the weather page for the 17th time today. Supposedly, he’ll be flying his long cross country flight tomorrow, finally. The weather looks clear…just windy.
We got library cards today! They gave us them with only a utility bill to prove we weren’t out to steal books. Then we browsed the Norman Public Library and found that there were few books we’d want to steal. I’m in the middle of two books right now, so I didn’t check out anything, but Berck got a Michael Chabon novel. They didn’t have any audio books that looked interesting. Ah, the joys of a small town library. I wonder if I could get an OKC card and if there’s a branch near my work.
When we got back we took a little picnic lunch over to the private lake in the subdivision across the street from us. I don’t think we’re allowed, but who is going to stop us. It’s a beautiful day, crystal clear and just the right temperature. Hopefully, the weather will be as good tomorrow for Berck’s flight.
So, we were having technical difficulties…
I think I’ve gotten everything back to normal. I’m still not sure what happened. MySQL seems to get corrupted sometimes.
Next time the blog looks all wonky or doesn’t load, you could let me know there’s a problem!
