I spent a long, long, long time researching keyboards. In fact, that’s pretty much all I did yesterday. After much research, the only keyboard with consistent reviews of having a very piano-like action was this MIDI controller. A search of Craig’s list turned up one in like-new condition in Denver. We drove out there this morning, Jonah tried it out, and we brought it home:
Turns out that all 88 keys are long.
It doesn’t make any sound by itself, so now I have to find a good piano sample library. At the moment, Jonah’s pounding away with it connected to my Macbook and GarageBand’s default piano. Which sounds amazingly good for being, you know, free with any Apple computer. But I think we can do better…
