Has the Mobile mayoral election already taken place?
CNN identifies Mobile’s mayor as “Mike Deal.”
“I’m afraid most people look at the map and say, ‘It’s going to New Orleans, we’re all right,'” said Mobile Mayor Mike Deal. “We’re in harm’s way with the current path of this storm.”
Wine
We’re trying to drink up our wine collection so we don’t have to move it.
The Odfjell Babor 2003 Cab is an amazing wine…and for less than $12 (you can order it only for $8, apparently). It’s got a cool picture of a seahorse on it.
For some reason I’m a sucker for wine bottles with cute animals on them.
Cardboard
Packing up our stuff is like replaying bits of our life.
Looking for a box big enough to fit the mixer, I fished one out from our stash under the bed. It’s got several layers of labels in magic marker, on top and bottom, arranged so a different one shows with every method of folding it up.
Berck was packing up the bedroom. He put a pile of hats in a box, taped it up, crossed out “BOOKS” and wrote “Hats.” The next box he used said, “HATS.”
As far as I can tell, I’ve transcribed them in chronological order. The first is from Berck’s dad’s office moving from Daphne to Longview. The last was to here.

Berck thought that box was too flimsy, so he gave me a sturdier one. This box makes us laugh whenever we see it. I’d asked my brother to be as specific as possible when he was writing the contents of my move from Dallas. Unfortunately, he didn’t have a spellchecker.

We’ve reserved a Budget truck and auto trailer for next week. The plan is to drive to Colorado on Thursday and move all our stuff in our new home on Friday.
In the meantime we’ll be packing like mad.
